The Jumper Presentation Night is one of the great nights on the club’s social calendar and a special way of kicking off the season. Why not grab a crew of friends and get along to what promises to be a wonderful evening hosted by the colourful legend and well known restauranter GARRY “BULL” BAKER who played 147 VFL games with Footscray, Melbourne and the Sydney Swans and won Melbourne’s Best and Fairest in 1978.
Our Guest Speaker for the evening is AFL Tasmania’s High Performance Manager MATTHEW ARMSTRONG. Matthew played 178 games for Fitzroy and North Melbourne, was playing coach of an undefeated North Launceston team in 1998, had time as an Assistant Coach at the Brisbane Lions in 1999-2000 and also coached the now defunct Tassie Devils (VFL) from 2001-2006.

The Glenorchy District Football Club offers a fantastic opportunity for you to sponsor your favourite Magpie player in 2016.
The Club had a much improved season across the board in 2015, with the Seniors and Development League both playing off in their respective Grand Finals after winning the minor Premierships. While not achieving ultimate success this year, a sound platform has been set for the next few years.
The media coverage for the Club this season has been hugely positive, and it was wonderful to see so many Glenorchy shops decked out in black and white, and to feel a true sense of community spirit develop around the GDFC teams representing the city.
There were many plusses we can all take out of the season, including players earning State representation, players and senior coach being nominated for teams of the year and a large number of young magpies playing for and being in the Mariners squad, as well as awards for the season including: Jaye Bowden's Peter Hudson Medal for the most goals in the TSL (narrowly defeating team-mate Daniel Muir by one goal) to take the title. Jaye was also awarded the Alistair Lynch Medal on GF day after a runaway win in the Leagues' Best and Fairest count.
Other positives for the season included the U/18’s promising year and the women’s team again making the Preliminary Final.
The final major Club event for this season was the "Banjo" Patterson Best and Fairest count. It was great to see such a strong attendance like most of this seasons Club functions. The assembled saw the current club champion Jaye Bowden win the "Banjo" Patterson perpetual trophy and be awarded the Roy Cazaly Medal again.
It was a year of continued rebuilding for the Club with the leadership and coaching group introducing the “Building to be the Best” slogan for our 2015 campaign. The sentiment was correct and our teams did not let us down and no doubt will continue to ‘build’ for sustained on-field success over the next few seasons.
I would like to thank all the volunteers for their efforts in 2015 and note the leadership of the groups provide by Carol De Jersey in the Kitchen, Bretta Button Kiosk, Barry Hassett, Des Peters and Grant Allford in the Football Department, Dennis Bird and Chris Hutton in the trainers and medical team, Ray Court in Membership, Terry Nichols, Dennis Bird and Kelly Hunt in the Bingo arena who have done a great job keeping Bingo going with the moves during the construction period and still being a major revenue source for the Club. Also Steve Maxwell and his board, coaches and volunteers with Junior football. Craig Peters was also a great help with regular support tasks around the Club and assisting with logistics for Club administration. To all the volunteers this year, too many to mention, again on behalf of the board we say, thank you.
I would like to acknowledge the Board of 2015 for their efforts and look forward to working with those that have put their hand up again and welcome new directors to the role. To those who are retiring we thank you for your efforts during a time of great change at the Club. The unity of the Board in meeting the challenges and opportunities of 2015 has been great to see. To achieve a trading profit in 2015 during the delayed transition to the new facility has been pleasing.

2016 will be an important year for the Club. We will be moving into our new premises on the site of the 1968 rooms and commencing a new long term tenancy arrangements for the Cresswell Beakley Stand and the KGV Oval. We will be a stronger Club on-field and build on the success of 2015. Given the Clubs capabilities with our new facilities, we have a great opportunity to strengthen our links with the Glenorchy community. It will be a great period for all supporters and the community to get behind the Club. Thanks again to all those who have contributed to GDFC in 2015.

The Glenorchy District Football Club is seeking expressions of interest from potential operators for two new hospitality and catering opportunities within the new $8M Community Hub and GDFC Clubrooms redevelopment at KGV Oval Glenorchy to be completed in March 2016. Namely;

Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting of the Glenorchy District Football Club will be held at the clubrooms, 1A Anfield Street Glenorchy, at 6.00 pm on Tuesday 8 December 2015.
1. To confirm the minutes of the last Annual General Meeting held on the 18 December 2014
2. The adoption of the Financial Statements for the period ended 31st October 2015
3. Declaration of Office Bearers for the following positions:
(ii) Secretary/Public Officer
(iv) Four (4) Directors
Nominations for the above positions must be in writing signed by two (2) financial members of the Association and accompanied by the written consent of the nominee. Nomination forms are available from the Club Office and must be lodged with the Public Officer by 5.00pm Tuesday, 1 December 2015.
4. Appointment of Auditor for the ensuing year.
5. Adoption of amendments to the Club Constitution. A copy of which can be obtained either from the club website (click here to view) or office at 1A Anfield Street.
