The Community and all Glenorchy District Football Club members are looking forward to the completion of the new Clubrooms that are taking shape at King George V (KGV) Oval on the site of the rooms s constructed by the Club in 1968. The project will deliver new Clubrooms for the Club that will include a new magpies bar, legends family lounge, new kiosk, wet area, café, two change-rooms, commercial kitchen, 250 seat function room, board room, coaches box, offices, utility storage space and large administration area for the Club and allied community sports groups. The project will be completed by January 2016 and includes two other major tenants in the three story building. These are allied health provider REVIVE that will also most likely have a hydrotherapy pool as part of its state of the art 10 office and large rehabilitation gymnasium operations. Revive will be located on the ground floor. The third tenant will be the Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) that will be housed on the third floor from which it will operate a range of its services for the northern suburbs and southern Tasmania.
The project will provide Glenorchy with the best Football, community and allied sports facility in regional Australia. The Glenorchy Football Club is on the Project Control Group with the Council and representatives from the Federal Government who are funding the project. Project administrator is the Glenorchy City council, the builder is Macquarie builders and the architects are JAWS of Hobart.
