The Glenorchy District Football Club was honoured to be a finalist at the Tasmanian Volunteering Awards at Blundstone Arena, as recognition for our Northern Heartland Community Project.

While we were represented at the awards by president John McCann and club coach Paul Kennedy, this recognition was about the almost 60 people from our club, RSEA Safety and Palena Netball Club who gave more than 700 hours of service last year.

"Thanks to everyone who volunteered their time, it was great to be able to help out our northern suburbs community, which has supported us for over a century, in a time of need," Mr McCann said.

"Our club has a long tradition of helping out the people in our community, and it was very pleasing to see the spirit is still alive and well today when a challenge like COVID came along.

"A special thank you and well done to our partners, West Moonah Community House, Foodbank Tasmania and the Migrant Resource Centre, who continue to provide an outstanding service to the community.

"We are honoured to help out the work that you do."
