The Glenorchy District Football Club (GDFC), playing in the Tasmanian State League (TSL) is calling for
expressions of interest for the position of Senior Men’s Football Coach for season 2022 and beyond.
About the Club
Founded in 1919 as the New Town Football Club, then in 1957 became the Glenorchy District Football Club which fields two Senior Men’s teams and one Senior Women’s team in the Tasmanian State League (TSL) and SFLW, along with approximately 15 Boys and Girls Junior and Youth teams as part of the Southern Tasmanian Football League competition.
The club is based at 1A Anfield Street in Glenorchy in Tasmania, with modern facilities and excellent club rooms and social function spaces and is the leading sports and community-based club in the Northern suburbs of Hobart.
The role of Senior Men’s Football Coach will operate within the GDFC Football Department structure and ultimately be responsible to the Club Board. The successful applicant will demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills to encourage development and progression of the playing group.
Key coaching objectives include:
- Development and deployment of football strategy, including designing and implementing the men’s training program and overseeing all aspects of coaching on game days
- A leading role in player retention and skills development
- Relationship management with internal and external club stakeholders
- The recruitment of new senior men’s players is considered a key objective
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following:
- The desire and drive for personal and team success, with a focus on leading the club to premiership standards
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including leadership and communication in driving the culture of the players, support staff and the club
- Knowledge and experience as a coach in the development of game plans, training techniques and player skills to support objectives across both our male and female senior teams
- Ability to identify and recruit new players, officials support staff to the club as required
- AFL Level 2 coaching accreditation is preferred and/or preparedness to complete level 3
- Be a key person in establishing a strong high-performance environment to push our aspiring young talent the forefront of draft potential
- An outgoing personality, engaging with members, sponsors, TSL and local football media to promote the club and its brand
- The ability to drive and lead our senior team standards and support those values across all teams
The role of Senior Men’s Coach will be a strongly supported position, with competitive remuneration available for the successful applicant.
