The New Town & Glenorchy Past Players & Officials Association has created ‘Player Number List’.
Player Number List has been collated commencing from the foundation year of the club 1919, to the current year and will be updated each season thereafter.
This affords the club to provide a personalised number to every senior player over the past ninety nine season period. Numbers were allocated to senior players between 1919 to 1941 and again from 1945 to 2016 alphabetically each year......and as they played their respective first senior game.
We have established the Glenorchy Magpies Foundation to support the important on and off field work of the Club.& Our initial project will be the finalisation and enhancement of the new clubrooms, function centre, café, and administration facility at KGV Oval. Our new home will be the most contemporary, largest community sport and recreation facility and precinct in Tasmania.
The finalisation and enhancement of the new facility at KGV will be a significant event in the club’s history, the beginning of an exciting new era for our club. Our new facility will enable us to put the team in the best position to achieve sustained success and to continue to contribute to the community in a meaningful way.
We are aiming to raise $200 000 in two years.
We are calling on all Glenorchy Magpies members and supporters to be a part of this special opportunity. After all, our history is only as good as the people who help make it.

Known by all the Glenorchy regulars and generations of players long-time supporter Tom Klug (father of Club champion John) was honoured by a plaque unveiling at KGV.
Tom has been attending Club games since he was a child and has rarely missed a fixture. Tom started following the Pies at the age of 11 prior to World War II. On Saturday at the Grand Final Replay a family gathering saw Tom unveil the plaque on the Anfield Street stand where he has stood and been a regular feature of the game day landscape for around 70 seasons. This has now been recognised.
Tom was thrilled with the plaque and the surprise of having a large section of his family present at KGV. The Club was represented at the unveiling by President John McCann, Senior Coach Aaron Cornelius, Club Captain Braydon Webb and Vice-Captain and 150 game milestone player Josh Arnold. We hope you witness many more Magpie victories at KGV Tom.
This week is national volunteers week and it is great to see the AFL have recognised how the TSL heavily depends on volunteers to operate successfully. At this time the board and staff of the club would like to acknowledge the volunteers from bingo football mens and womens administration catering kiosk function setups, bar, logistics , board and all other volunteers a huge thank you as clubs like ours do not exist or operate as smoothly or have the atmosphere that we do here without volunteers. As we all know that the volunteers of the club just like to see our players do well but you must know that our players are very appreciative of the time and effort with a smile and love for this great club
Our existing work force are doing a tremendous job. With the new facility there is plenty of opportunity for new volunteers to join in with club activates to whatever extent you can provide
Once again we salute the volunteers for the great and tireless work they perform this week especially and throughout the year.

The Board, volunteers and members of the Glenorchy District Football Club are looking forward to the new season as the Club defends the 2016 TSL senior title and settles into the first full season in the new Club facility at KGV. While parts of the building are still being fitted out the focus now is making sure all operating systems are up for the Club to operate successful and to fit out the building so over the year it is transformed from a new site into Clubrooms with memorabilia and Club trophies and wares being put back on display.
The Club will have four teams playing in 2017. Seniors, Development League, Womens TSWL Premier League and the U/18's. We wish all four teams and support staff a successful year. Moving into the new building has brought the Senior Club, Junior Club and Past Players group closer and we look forward to several joint events and alignment of personnel and resources this year to make the Club even stronger.
We hope to see memberships and sponsorships grow this year and encourage all Magpie fans to get down to KGV and get involved with your Club this season. For information on the Club and events will be posted on this website, or register for the newsletter or call the Club on 0362729593.
