Sarah Skinner

Not once, but twice. That's how many times the TSLW RSEA Magpies have now downed powerhouse Launceston in the shortened 2020 season.

The Blues have won their other five games by a combined 178 points, including a 29-point shutdown of premiers Clarence, but haven't had the answers for the Pies.

It was a hard-fought contest at Windsor Park last Saturday, the home side making the early jump behind the brilliance of Daria Bannister (2 goals) to lead by seven points at the first break.

From there, however, Glenorchy grinded the game in their favour with their midfield pressure and ability to cut off the Blues' defensive exits.

Standout performers
A quality set-shot goal from Elise Barwick before half-time gave the Magpies a 10-point half-time lead, and it was a Sarah Skinner major that sealed the deal in the final term.

Skinner and Jemma Webster were both standouts in the midfield, helped by a strong ruck performance from Gen Sullivan.

Holly Ryan was impassable in defence, while Molly Mitchell (2 goals) and Tiarna Ford were always dangerous up forward.
