Two of the RSEA Magpies' brightest stars - Sarah Skinner and Perri King - are closing in on the 2021 AFLW Draft with both in contention to be picked up.
Sarah Skinner, the 2020 TSLW Best & Fairest, has doubled up this year in the Magpies' elite women's program while also playing for North Melbourne's VFLW side.
The tough 21-year-old has been outstanding in both domains, with Draft Central stating the midfielder has "proved she could match it with quality opposition", describing her kicking as "a huge strength", and stating "she has really carved out a good year to make AFLW clubs consider her".
Perri King, the ultra-aggressive teenager from New Norfolk continued to wow talent scouts this year with Glenorchy, Tasmania Devils and the Allies, staking her claim as one of the best young tacklers in the country.
Draft Central said quite simply that "no one even came close to King's tackling ability in the NAB League Girls", said Perri has "a great balance of inside and outside traits" and that "very few players win as much of the ball as she does and still lay an immense amount of tackles".
The AFLW Draft is next Tuesday (27 July) at 6.45pm. We wish Sarah, Perri and all other hopefuls the best of luck, and our club will continue to support their journeys whatever the outcome on Tuesday night.
