Season 2020 just got better for Magpie fans with Zac Webster officially re-signing, and the former Hawthorn speedster believes it’s going to be one of the best years yet for this storied football club.

The livewire forward-turned-defender had a brilliant 2019, switching ends and quickly becoming one of the TSL’s elite backmen, highlighted by a breathtaking 19-possession, 19-pressure act and 6 score involvement effort in the Bingley-Linton Cup.

Webster said he didn’t have to think long before recommitting to Glenorchy for 2020, and there’s a simple reason why.

With the majority of this year's senior list re-signed and a number of stars well and truly on the mend after serious injuries in 2019, Webster is confident the Pies can give the flag a serious shake.

“I think we’ve got the group to win it, that’s why I’m so keen to get back into it,” he said.

“We’ve been thereabouts for couple of years. Injuries obviously slowed us down this year, and we were pretty close last year.

“I can’t wait to have a good pre-season, because if we can get everyone on the park we’re going to be a really good team.”

While Webster is full of admiration for North Launceston’s ability to produce high-level football year after year, he also desperately wants to be in the group that ends their reign.

“I really want to win a premiership at TSL level,” he said.

“North Launy winning is starting to get bit old, to be honest, we've got to stop them.”
