The Glenorchy RSEA Magpies kick off their 2021 TSL campaign with back-to-back home games against a traditional and modern rival.
After a bye for Round 1, the Pies welcome long-time foe Clarence to KGV on Saturday 10 April, which is sure to be a feisty affair after the teams split their two meetings last season.

Club Coach Paul Kennedy's season 2020 report to the board has been made available for members and supporters:
Season 2020 marked year three of the club’s plan to re-invigorate our junior club and youth talent pathways, refashion the TSL playing list into a sustainable form while at the same time maintaining strong top-end talent to remain a premiership contender in the TSL.
The need for this plan was brought about by the recognition in 2017 that the club’s playing stocks were in an unsustainable state, due to the deterioration of the playing numbers in the junior club, the lack of zone talent pathways, very few Glenorchy players in the state U18 program, the departure of players from the 2016 premiership squad and the need to plan for the retirement of existing stars.
The following report tracks key indicators around producing a sustainably successful TSL team, based around strong junior and youth programs and a successful talent pathway.
RSEA Magpies welcome Wyatt!

The Glenorchy RSEA Magpies are delighted to welcome Darrean Wyatt to KGV.
Wyatt, a 203cm utility, started his senior football career as a Collingwood rookie, before playing in the VFL with Frankston and Coburg, where he was coached by Magpies mentor Paul Kennedy.
Arnold caps 2020 with Roy Cazaly Medal

Captain Josh Arnold has capped an incredible 2020 season by taking out his first Roy Cazaly Medal as Best & Fairest of the senior side.
Arnold started 2020 by being elevated to the position of co-captain, after six years as Brayden Webb's deputy, then produced a scintilating season across half-back to earn his first TSL Team of the Year selection.
That form was duly reflected in the club's Best & Fairest polling, with Arnold receiving votes in every game, and remarkably topping the voting six times in the 12-game season.
Haines claims top honour

Recruit Libby Haines has claimed the best & fairest award for the club's TSLW team.
Haines, recruited from Launceston via North Melbourne, was a fast starter in the count, picking up 44 votes in the opening four games before holding off a fast-finishing Sarah Skinner, who claimed the TSLW league award.
Consistent Oates wins development B&F

Brandon Oates, an unassuming 16-year-old key defender has taken out the development league best & fairest award thanks to his super-consistent debut season.
A graduate of the Ben Brown Academy, Oates wasn't expecting to play development league football this year, but his dedicated training post-COVID opened up a place in Round 1 and he didn't look back.
Saavedra wins prestigious new award

Young gun Jude Saavedra has claimed the inaugural Bobby Bridges Memorial Trophy, the newly-dedicated award for the U18 best & fairest winner.
Bobby was a much-loved character of our club, a premiership player, life member and long-time volunteer, who sadly passed away this year.
Club coach Paul Kennedy, who coached Saavedra the previous two seasons in the U16s, said Jude was a fitting first-up winner of such an important award.
Magpies down Clarence, into TSLW decider

It will go down as yet another unforgettable finals battle between Glenorchy and Clarence, and when the dust settled at Abbotsfield Park, the Magpies were into their third TSLW grand final in four years.
After the Roos booted the opening two goals of the game in quick succession, the Glenorchy girls owned much of the contest, but it took some Tiarna Ford magic to eke their way into the decider.
SKINNER STUNNER

Glenorchy superstar Sarah Skinner is the 2020 Cripps TSL Women’s (TSLW) Best & Fairest, blitzing the competition with an average of more than two votes a game.
The talented goalkicking forward had a dominant individual season, polling 19 votes in 8 games to win the medal in a landslide result.
Clarence Vice-Captain Nicole Bresnehan finished second on 13 votes, followed by Launceston gun Daria Bannister on 10 votes.
R11: Pies fall to Lauderdale

A youthful Glenorchy team has shown some promising glimpses for the future before ultimately falling by 53 points to Lauderdale at KGV on Wednesday.
Featuring a remarkable 12 players aged 20 years or under, the RSEA Magpies successfully lured the highly-touted Southern Bombers into a scrap in the opening three quarters, but couldn't finish the job.
R10: Pies fall in tense KGV contest

The Glenorchy RSEA Magpies' finals hopes are now in other teams' hands after a tense 10-point loss to the Tigers.
It was a slow start that ultimately cost the home side as they defended into a strong and gusty KGV wind, conceding five goals despite controlling significant periods of the term.
After Glenorchy allowed the first goal of the second stanza things looked grim, but the young Magpie side stuck to their guns and came charging back.
TSLW Pies win statement game over Blues

Not once, but twice. That's how many times the TSLW RSEA Magpies have now downed powerhouse Launceston in the shortened 2020 season.
The Blues have won their other five games by a combined 178 points, including a 29-point shutdown of premiers Clarence, but haven't had the answers for the Pies.
R9: Young Pies swamped by impressive Blues

The Glenorchy RSEA Magpies have fallen heavily to the Launceston Blues in a disappointing day for the undermanned Pies.
Rocked by the loss of Ben Kamaric, Jaye Bowden, Mitch Rainbird and Adam Roberts from the previous week's team - which had convincingly defeated Clarence by 29 points - a Glenorchy team featuring 11 players aged 20 or younger never came to grips with the Blues' contested ball game.
R8: Pies celebrate vengeance on rival Roos

The Glenorchy RSEA Magpies made it three wins from their past four games with a start-to-finish shutdown of arch-rivals Clarence on Saturday.
It was a statement team performance, with 15 Pies players collecting 10 or more possessions and 20 players laying at least one tackle.

R7: Fast starting Magpies fall to premiers

The Glenorchy RSEA Magpies put on an early clinic of pressure against North Launceston in Saturday's much-anticipated clash at KGV, but ultimately the experience of the premiers proved too much.
Having lost Daniel Joseph, James Deegan and Zac Webster from the previous week's win over North Hobart, the hosts went in underdogs but had plenty of bite from the opening siren.
