Senior Player Number: 1179
Kick started his junior footy at Devonport before a journey South to Glenorchy in 2011 for two years.
It was quite apparent that he wasn’t going to stay long, as he was a class act from day one.
Sure enough, in 2013 Ben moved to Chirnside Park, Victoria under Coach and former Bulldogs Captain, Scott West. It was a massive learning curve for the well built Brown, who was drafted from Werribee in the VFL as pick 47 by North Melbourne.
From his debut with the ‘Roos’, he’s never looked back and has become a prominent player at the highest level.
He booted 63 goals in 2017, finishing 3rd in the Coleman Medal behind Josh Kennedy (65) and Lance Franklin (69).
He made the 40 member All Australian squad in both 2017 & ’18.
2018 he was second in the Coleman Medal with 61 goals from 22 games.
Ben joined the Demons via the 2020 Trade Period from North Melbourne.
The 2020 AFL season saw Brown manage just nine games for North Melbourne due to a persistent knee injury, which required minor surgery and ruled him out of the backend of the year.
In 2021 Ben played in the Melbourne Demons premiership team kicking 3 goals in the Grand Final.
Ben is the grandson of former Club ‘Hall of Famer Jim Manson, and nephew of former Collingwood player James Manson.
At a youthful age, Ben brought a touch of raw talent and a tint of future class. |
