Came through the State School Old Boy’s Football Association, via the Buckingham Football Club.
Joined New Town District Football Club in 1956, playing 12 Senior games.
Stuart, one of the Club’s most promising recruits, became ill in the final TFL round of 1956, and was admitted to the New Town Chest Hospital for
treatment. Unfortunately, from a Club point of view, there wasn’t much it could do. owever, it did open and organised an appeal for Stuart, which was most
successful. Thankfully, he was responding to Doctors orders and treatment satisfactorily.
On Sunday, 19 th August 1956, a party of Club players, officials and members paid a visit to Wingfield House at St. Johns Park. High on their priority list was
a chat to ‘Stuey’.
He did not play in 1957 or 1958.
The Club welcomed his return to football in 1959, and although not playing, he did coach the under 15’s to a grand final, only to be beaten by Clarence in a
replay of the Grand Final.
He returned to the footy field, this time under the banner of the Glenorchy District Football Club until his retirement from Glenorchy at
the end of 1965. |
