It was a case of G-Force at KGV last Saturday as Harrison Gunther and John Geard guided the RSEA Magpies to a memorable 26-point win over Lauderdale. 

Midway through the third term, with the Bombers six points in front and Glenorchy missing two key men - Darrean Wyatt (concussion) and Cam Goodsell (hamstring) - things looked grim for the home side.

But from that point on they produced a clinical display of pressure football and skilled ball movement to cut Lauderdale apart, outscoring last year's semi-finalist 5.4.34 to 0.2.2 the rest of the way home. 

The game remained tight until time-on in the fourth term when Cal Daly did what Cal Daly does best, finishing two superb goals - including a trademark crumbers' snap from the cricket club pocket - to put the result beyond doubt.

G-Force
The win was the result of a bevy of contributors, but the numbers of Gunther and Geard stood out.

Gunther racked up a remarkable statline of 27 possessions, 13 pressure acts, 12 marks, 8 rebound 50s, 8 spoils, 6 intercepts, 4 contested marks and a disposal efficiency of 81 per cent as he controlled the back half of the ground.

Geard had his usual nose for a clearance, but also impacted all around KGV en route to 26 disposals, 12 contested possessions, 10 clearances, 7 pressure acts, 5 marks and 5 inside 50s.

Daly was also electric as he picked up 22 possessions, 9 pressure acts, 6 inside 50s, 4 clearances and 4 crucial goals.

Tale of the Tape
It was truly a team effort, however, with 10 Magpies picking up 20 or more possessions, and 14 racking up 6 or more pressure acts.

Youngster Callum Thompson was another standout with 20 possessions, 13 pressure acts and a brilliant banana from the boundary, while Tom Cleary continued his rock-solid season with 12 pressure acts, 8 marks, 7 tackles, 4 spoils and 4 intercepts.

Twenty-year-old Victorian recruit Nick Reibelt shone with 20 disposals and 9 pressure acts, while his running mate Adam Roberts accumulated 20 touches, 11 pressure acts and 10 marks in another quality display.

Veterans return
It wasn't just the youngesters having all the fun though, Brayden Webb chipping in with 21 possessions, 9 marks and immeasurable poise in his first game in 714 days, his classy left-foot snap one of the highlights of the day.

Vice-captain Daniel Joseph was also back after off-season surgery, and as the game wore on he looked like the DJ of old with 27 touches, 11 marks and 10 pressure acts, including a goal-saving chasedown tackle in the tense final term.

That pair received support from Zac Webster (24 disposals), Ben Kamaric (22, 8 pressure acts, 2 goals) and Luke Nicholson (8 pressure acts).
