The RSEA Magpies have produced a stirring 19-point win over arch-rivals Lauderdale at KGV in a game billed as a 'mini final' by coach Paul Kennedy. 

The previous week's loss to Clarence took its toll with Adam Roberts, Brayden Webb, Darrean Wyatt, Sam Rundle and Zac Webster all forced omissions, one of the youngest Glenorchy sides in history took to the field in a must-win game in hurricane-like conditions. 

It was some veterans who stepped up early, Matt Dilger setting up a craft Matthew Joseph soccer goal in the opening moments, then 'Dilgs' blocked superbly to set up a Callen Daly snap.

It was just the start the Magpies needed, and would eventually prove the difference in a hard-fought contest in the unpredictable wind.

A Lauderdale team featuring 10 players with grand final experience was never going to lie down, the likes of Josh McGuinness, Nat Franklin, Sam Siggins and Phil Bellchambers all having moments of influence.

However, two goals apiece from Matt Dilger and Harrison Gunther in the third quarter blew the game open, giving the RSEA Magpies the buffer needed when Lauderdale launched a late charge in the final term.

Tale of the Tape
Nathan Blowfield produced an outstanding display in defence, the 19-year-old belying his age with a composed and courageous display, taking 4 intercept marks, forcing 6 opposition turnovers and applying 10 pressure acts.

He had great help down back from Daniel Joseph, whose ball use out of defence was near-flawless while his 9 tackles and 6 spoils highlighted the desperation of the stand-in skipper.

Veteran John Geard also stood tall despite playing under a heavy injury cloud, picking up 13 pressure acts to go with 27 touches and 6 clearances, ably supported by Ben Kamaric (29 possessions, 8 clearances, 6 pressure acts).

Richie Dilger celebrated his first senior game of the year by applying outstanding heat around the contest up forward (14 pressure acts), while Harrison Gunther was dynamic in the air and at ground level to finish with 5 spoils, 12 pressure acts, 4 contested marks and 2 goals.

Daly nailed 3 goals, including the sealer, and was a thorn in Lauderdale's side all day with 11 pressure acts and 8 turnovers forced.
