League: Southern Football League Women's Division 1 Year: 2021 - Round 5 Date: 21 May 2021 Ground: Abbotsfield Park Glenorchy 15.12.102 defeated Claremont 1.2.8
Game Notes:
Friday was a special night, starting with local Aboriginal artist Takira Simon Brown presenting our women's team with the new jumper she designed.
The jumper beautifully blends local indigenous themes with our club's traditional New Town roots and our modern colours. It is an amazing creation and our club can't thank Takira enough.
That blend of the past and the future was a perfect metaphor for our girls SFLW clash with Claremont, who featured some of our club's greats and pioneers of the women's game, including Sandy Eaton, Nietta Lynch, Masa Corrie and Nat Daniels.
Our own team, featuring 12 teenagers in the 18-strong line-up then showed just how incredible the future of women's football is at Glenorchy, producing some absolutely sublime football to run out strong winners.
Thank you and well done to everyone involved.
As always, a huge thanks to the sponsors who have got behind our women's program to keep it alive and elite, most notably RSEA Safety and Water Industry Solutions! |
